Energy Healing: Unblocking Chakras
73Energy Defined
To understand energy healing, it is important we understand the definition of energy and how energy flows through our bodies. Energy is the ability to do work. There are two types of energy: potential and kinetic. While potential energy is stored energy, kinetic energy is moving energy. Energy can be measured in British Thermal Units (Btus) or joules. One thousand joules is equal to one Btu. Scientists usually measure energy in joules rather than btus. Although energy can be changed, it cannot be created or destroyed.
The Body's Electromagnetic Field: The Aura
Each one of us has an electromagnetic energy field that surrounds us. Simply explained, an electromagnetic field is the magnetic and electrical fields that have an electrical charge. Another word for this electromagnetic field is an aura.
While some people can see other people's auras, others cannot. Each aura is connected to a chakra. Chakras are energy centers within the human body. The chakras recieve energy, transform the energy, and transmit it through nadis. Nadis are channels that energy flows through. Although we have multiple nadis, each of us have a main nadi that runs from our crotch up through the top of our head.
The Main Chakras
The Body's Chakras
In Sanskrit chakra means wheel. Each chakra resemembes a wheel, and they are located along the central, vertical axis of the spine and open toward the front of the body. They continually rotate either recieving or transmitting energy. Men's and women's chakras rotate opposite of each other. If a man's charkra rotates clockwise, a woman's chakra rotates counterclockwise.
Although traditional writings claim there are over 88,000 chakras in the body, there are seven primary chakras. These primary chakras are the root chakra, the sacral or spleen chakra, the solar plexus, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye, and the crown chakra.
The Function and Color of Individual Chakras
Each of the chakras are associated with a specific color and a specific part of the body. When chakras are healthy and balanced, they radiate bright colors. When they are unhealthy and unbalanced, the colors appear streaked, watery, faded, or discolored. The colors associated with chakras are:
- Root chakra - This chakra is red-orange. It is associated with the base of the spine, coccyx, legs, feet, bones, rectum, immune system, and spinal column.
- Sacral or spleen chakra - This chakra is sunny yellow. It is associated with the genital area, reproductive organs, bladder, bowel, and lower intestine.
- Solar plexus - This chakra is gold. It is associated with the stomach, pancreas, and the liver.
- Heart chakra - This chakra is green. It is associated with the heart, lungs, pericardium, thymus, breasts, upper back, ribs, arms, and hands.
- Throat chakra - This chakra is blue-green. It is associated with the throat, neck, shoulders, jaws, teeth, nasal sinuses, vocal cords, trachea, esophagus, cervical vertabrae, ears, thyroid, parathyroid, and hypothalamus.
- Third eye - This chakra is purplish-blue. It is associated with pituitory gland, pineal gland, skull, brain, eyes, and nervous system.
- Crown chakra - This chakra is violet. It is associated with pineal gland, top of the spinal cord, and the brain stem.
Energy Healing
Chakras can become blocked by negative experiences, thoughts, and feelings. When a chakra or multiple chakras become blocked, it affects the flow of the energy. Consequently, the unbalanced or blocked chakras can cause mental, emotional, and physiological problems. Energy healing tries to reestablish the flow of energy through chakras, and this consequently improves our emotional and physical health. Some different forms of energy healing are Reiki, Aromatherapy, Feng Shui, Crystal therapy, Meditation, Yoga, Homopathy, Hypnosis, Therapeutic touch, and Reflexology.

Great information! Thanks for the excellent explanation.
A frank account, well explained. Thank you for sharing x
The science of chakra points demonstrates how our health is affected by emotions and how energy is the root of our health problems. This makes energy healing therapy powerful as it gets to the underlying problem.
The question is if the body has an inherent desire for perfect health. Then why does this energy disharmony happen? What causes this disharmony in the first place?

There is no denying that energy healing can have a very powerful effect on the body. I know this as I have experienced it. Not only can you experience amazing results but you can actually feeling the energy itself if you are with a powerful healer, and not only during the healing session but at other times as well. It is a very strong feeling and definitely not in the imagination. Many people are sceptical about healing but I know without doubt that is it real.
