Introduction
Hubpages is an internet community of writers where you can publish articles on a revenue-sharing basis. Many writers use Hubpages as a way to supplement their income working from home. There are four ways to make money with Hubpages: Adsense, Kontrera, an Amazon affiliate, and an Ebay affiliate. The amount of money made by authors varies significantly.
When many writers start at Hubpages, one of their first questions is "How much money can I make with Hubpages?" Unfortunately, it seems like many Hubbers closely guard how much money they make with Hubpages. However, as I browsed through Hubpages, I noticed some writers have several hundred hubs. Although people write for reasons other than to make money, surely all of these writers aren't writing for the joy of it or to share their experiences with others. So, the question remains, "How much money can you make with Hubpages?"
How Much Money Can You Make at Hubpages?
In search for the answer, I browsed Hubpage's forums. In the last six months, there has been two questions on the Knowledge Exchange Forum on this subject. One question was How Long Does it Take to Make Decent Money on Hubpages asked in May 2009. The other question was How Long Did it Take You to Reach Payout asked six months ago. To recieve an Adsense payout, you need a minimum of $100 in accrued earnings. The answers to the questions are compiled in th following chart.

You Can Make Money on Hubpages
After looking at this information, it seems the average Hubber reaches their Adsense payout after ten months. Many state the second payout comes at a faster rate. In fact, at least one Hubber makes $1000 per month with Hubpages. However, it is important to remember that many factors affect how much money you can make. Some of these factors include subject matter,the number of hubs, keyword choice and saturation, search engine optimization, writing quality, the aesthetics of a hub, and time. Hubpages is not a "get-rich-quick scheme." Consequently, many people give up too soon. If only they had persevered, they may be reaping rewards now. To be more successful, study other successful Hubbers, and learn as much as you can. If you're diligent, yes, you can make money at Hubpages.
In my case, I haven't done as well as others. For the three-quarters of my first year, I only made a few bucks a month. However, I didn't know anything about keyword research, and I wasn't writing consistently. Now as my year anniversary is here, I am writing more consistently and understand keywords better so my earnings have increasd eightfold approximately. Although that still may not seem like much, think about if they contine to increase like that periodically. I will update this hub in the future to let you know how I am doing. However, I would like to leave you with one thought. For me, the best part of hubpages is helping others. If I can touch just one person's life and help them through my writing, it's all worthwhile regardless of what I make!

I'm still waiting for it to snowball :) though. Check out the Keyword Academy website --- the site that is having the Hubpage challenge with Hubpages. Their results are very promising. Although, I wish we knew they're usernames so we could see what kind of articles they're publishing.

I had no idea you could make money when I came here, I had just found a place to write which I love to do, but...money isn't bad, and when you just have to say something you can, some will listen, maybe know they have a friend or someone who shares their own experiences. Its good for the soul. Mine..maybe someone elses. I hope so.

You're welcome. If you want to make money here, this is my advice. How much traffic your site recieves is a big factor in making money here. To get traffic, you need to use keywords you can compete for. Consequently, learn all you can about keywords. Some people just go to Google's keyword tool and look up the number of searches. They don't realize even though there may be a ton of searches for the keyword, you can't compete for the keyword because the top sites may have a page rank that is too high.

Your hub is excelllent.I need your help. In october is signed in for google adsense till now i have not received a PIN.Anytime i try to connect hubpage will Adsense i am told that the last 4 digits of my phone or Zip code does not match.With Ebay,Kontera, Amazon i did register with them but i always get a response that they are unable to see my hubs on hubpages.Could you please give me an example of the format you used to register with Amazon. Did you use e.g http:hubpages.com/profile/ your name. I also have a problem with Tags on hubpages. My tags here always have a red mark. Please advice me on how to remove the red mark or what to do. I'm sorry, but I don't know why you're having those problems with the affiliates, and it's been too long ago since I signed up to remember what exactly transpired with the Amazon registration. My suggestion is to go to one of Hubpage's forums for help. Click on the forum's icon at the top of the page and select one of the appropriate forums. Most hubbers are very helpful, and I am sure someone will be able to answer your questions. Good luck!

This is good information. It inspires me to get busy and write some more hubs. I've always earned good money from Google Adsense for my websites, but I am only getting a trickle here. I guess I need to write more hubs and study keywords more.

Social bookmarking sites can help accomplish this. I like Snipsly and SheToldMe because you can post your own content, and they don't consider it spam and close down your account. Best of luck!
Very frank and honest, I appreciate your perspective. I made my first payout at about 9 months and as you say, things are moving faster albeit slowly. It looks like my next payout will only take 6 months to reach.
What I want to know is when to add Kontrera? I searched "Kontrera" and guess what, your was the first article to show up that had actual related Kontrera content! And you dont' even use it here, haha! Do you use it?
