Droid: The Latest Technology in Cell Phones

Some people say Motorola's Droid is the best Google phone on the market. Making its debut on November 6th, amazingly, it has sold between 700,000 to 800,000 units since it was first released, and it is expected to sell 1 million units by the end of 2009. In addition to it's many other features, unlike other cell phones, while Droid doesn't promote adult content applications, it doesn't prevent them either.

The Droid has more features than any other cell phone on the market. Some of these features include:

• It has an Arm Cortex 550 mHz A8 processor with 256MB of built-in memory and can be expanded to 32GB.
• Five megapixel digital camera with a dual-LED flash, auto focus, and image stabilization, and DVD-video recording. Sixteen GB memory card included.
• Touch sensitive buttons for back, menu, home, and search and a full-size, slide-out QWERTY keyboard below the screen.
• 3.5 mm. headset jack
• Internet access at 3 G speeds. WiFi capability.
• Google voice-activated search.
• Turn-by-turn GPS navigation with Google maps and voice shortcuts.
• Widescreen 3.7" high resolution touch screen with of 854x450 pixels and more than 400 pixels total.
• Runs up to six applications at a time with a toggle switch to move back and forth between them.
• Find content on your phone like appointments and contacts by typing what you're looking for into the search bar on the home screen.
• More than 12,000 Android applications and 100s of widgets available.
• Gmail capability - Unlike the iPhone, the Droid's email application doesn't allow email to be moved into folders, and you can't search for emails through the email application.

If you're looking for a smart, multi-tasking cell phone, the Droid may be the cell phone for you. The Droid sells for $199 with a $100 mail-in rebate with a two year contract with Verizon. Customers will also need a voice and email plan in addition the their cell phone plan.
